I would like to extend a thank you for helping create a profitable change for our distribution business: FLAT WRAP.
Since moving to flat wrap in December 2010 we, our publishers and our many customers, are very happy with the improvement in the presentation of the home delivered newspaper. In fact a recent customer feedback survey showed a 99.45% "extremely satisfied result with the flat wrap.
It is great to be able to wrap multiple publications together, including magazines, and home deliver them flat and in pristine condition. An increase in magazine sales to home delivery customers has been noticed plus a greater retention of new customers at the end on promotional periods.
Publishers promotions can be included with the newspapers, including CD's and DVD's. The Australia Day bucket hat was included with every home delivered newspaper, with many customers ringing to say thanks.
Wrap time has been reduced by 2/3rd's, with the ability to wrap up to 1,200 papers per hour, per machine. No breakdowns, no hotwires, no noxious plastic fumes, no noise, no grease and oil. Ease of use.
Delivery drive time has increased slightly due to the slower speed required to throw the newspapers. Throwing can be undertaken both left and right handed with ease, with less stress on the body and reduced risk of injury. All my drivers adapted quickly to flat wrap, without complaint.
All up, the overall time for the entire delivery process has been reduced, saving time on wages, reduced vehicle running and maintenance costs due to the slower speed, resulting in more money in my pocket.
With the continued expansion of our delivery territories a third flat wrap may well be on the cards soon.
